World Of Warcraft – Buying Gold Question – Please Help?

By admin | June 24, 2009

Hi.
I was thinking about buying world of warcraft gold from the websites, and i wondered can you get banned? If so, how long, and what happens and what are the consiquences are, please explain everything in detail and ill pick you as the best answer.

Thanks in advance.

Let me lay it all out there for you…

Now I will be the first to admit that back in the day I bought gold through a well known gold farming site. The first time I did it nothing bad happened to my account and everything was just chipper (was able to buy my epic flying mount) of course then I got greedy.

The second time I bought through the site it was about I would say 4-5 days later when I had an email in my mailbox from Blizzard support saying my account had been suspended because of a "gold purchasing" related offense.

So there I was out a WoW account, no more level 70 mage, or my 66 druid that I had been leveling non stop for the last week so that I could raid with my guild as our new healer. Lets just say i was not a very happy person.

I stopped playing World of Warcraft for about 6 months after that as I just could not take leveling another character just to have nothing once I hit 70. Of course my boss and fellow guild mate convinced me to buy the game and level again and of course since that time I have never bought gold. (why the hell would I)

I decided to look at other ways to farm gold. When I had started my account again this time I had bough Joana's leveling guide and had seen the power of a leveling guide when going from 1 to 70 so I decided to give a gold guide a shot. I have been using this certain gold guide ever since and now I just make gold whenever I want.

The cool thing about the WoW economy is that the more gold you can amass the more you can make off of what you have, especially if you play the auction house.

TLDR: As a fellow WoW player please do not buy gold, not only does it risk your account like mine was, but it also promotes gold farming itself. The entire auction house on every realm has inflated prices because of gold farmers. Any time you buy from a gold farmer you are just telling them that we want their services and all it ends up doing is hurting our player based economy.

Trust me, farm yourself up like a good chunk of 5,000-6,000 gold then read a little bit about how to dominate the auction house, and you can have more gold then most gold selling sites probably have ever seen. No joke, just think out side the box and use your already made gold to make some more.

Sorry if this post is way too long but this post is what I wish I could have read before losing my account, it is no fun to go from everything to nothing and then have your friends still wanting to play.

DO NOT BUY GOLD. Oh and the prices are just laughable as well, you are better off spending your money on something else to bring you happiness. Just my 2 cents.

Hope this helped,
Sam

    You get perma-banned.

Gold is so easy to get, why would you buy it? Just go do some quests.

    Good luck

Blizzard really hates gold farming, cause they dont make money from it, so yes if they find out you've bought gold or have gotten gold from a confirmed gold farmer, you can get banned.

I don't know for how long, it could be permanent

as someone who's account got hacked by gold farmers, PLEASE DON'T BUY GOLD. the gold you'll be buying was stolen from other players, or farmed. these farmers destory the server's economy.

and YES you will get banned. permanently.

Yes you get banned. Forever. You lose your account, all the characters and all the gold on it, forever. End of story, and they do not negotiate.

Buying gold is a violation of the user agreement, and it is a lifetime ban. However, my fiance plays and he has purchased gold before, nothing happened, but again, it is a lifetime ban. He just recommended as frustrating as it is, to just earn it. Especially if you want to keep playing.

I would be less concerned about WoW and more concerned about the money you'll likely lose while using these sites. It is easy to deny the transaction and thus they will protect themselves, often requiring methods that are unsecure/unable to be tracked if something does go wrong.

Having said that, if you are caught, you will likely get at least a warning the irst time and probably worse. Rules violations are pretty much the call of the GM that handles the situation, but most will usually understand that players dont' always know the rules or know the legality and would be lenient. If it continues after a first warning/punishment, don't expect to get your account back.

My boyfriend/roommate got perma-banned for it.

I'd also like to point out that a good 75% of accounts that get hacked are accounts belonging to those who have bought gold or power-levelling services in the past.

Just hop on an 80 or 70 and do dailies, my friend.

I've bought gold before and have never been banned once. You can get banned if caught, but it's really impossible. If you do decide to buy gold DO NOT choose to send it through mail. If they send it to you through mail you WILL get caught. But if it's through trade or auction house you won't.

I agree with the great answers already given:

    1. Yes you can/will get banned because the buying of gold was never part of Blizzard's design for the game. They don't like it at all.
    2. There's a lot of gold buying scams out there so you stand a chance of getting ripped off.
    3. There's no reason to resort to buying gold. It's not that hard to acquire, just takes some skill and patience.
    4. There are some great Gold Secrets Guides available that will walk you through the entire process. Can shave many, many hours off your learning curve.

Bottom line: Don't buy gold. Play WoW the way it was intended. Too many potential negatives AND you're just shortchanging your gaming experience IMHO.
