How do I get rid of a patch (for example 3.0.1) and use an older one (for example 2.4.3)? I need to know this because for some reason world of warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King has installed onto my computer and I want to get rid of it so I can get it when it comes out and when I have a level 55.

I can see how you’d be a little confused. The starting screen has changed, and DOES in fact say Wrath of the Lich King. We have Northrend on the map, new talents, new mechanics, new achievements, and a new profession.

However, this is really the 3.0 (yes, I know it’s up to 3.02 now) patch, not the expansion, Wrath of the Lich King.

Blizzard will often release a large portion of the data needed (mechanic changes, talent specs, etc) before the expansion, so that there is less of a need to patch AFTER installing the expansion. Plus, it’s another way to make sure that people aren’t overwhelmed either by data or changes in one day. It also irons out any major problens so they can be fixed before the deluge of problems that will happen when the expansion releases.

To address your older patch question: You CANNOT use an older patch for WoW. Since you’re logging in to Blizzard Servers, your version must match their version in order for the game to talk to the server and function properly. If you try to downgrade to a different patch, you won’t be able to play at all.

And I assure you– as long as you already have a 55+ character on your account, you’ll be able to roll a death knight when Wrath comes out (they start at 55).
