I need help with world of warcraft?

i just got world of warcraft and i installed everything and when i got to hit play it says the wrath of the lich king…. but the one i bought was just wow. did i do something wrong. and when i go to sign in it just says connecting forever because it can’t connect.. i have a great internet signal though. WHAT is happening i would really like to know thankx
The reason it says wrath of lich king is because it is one of the expansions, along with burning crusade, you don’t need lich king or burning crusade, but without it you won’t be able to reach the maximum level,80, you’ll only reach level 60, and you won’t be able to access new territory, and you’ll be limited to your classes and races, and other things, it wont let you connect probably because it is loading all the patches from the time the game came out till now, which is about 5 years, so that could take awhile. You dont need any other expansions to play. You should be able to log in fine. Make sure your account and password are correct and your internet is working properly.

if it says you’re connecting and it’s taking forever it either because its downloading all the patches or the servers are down.

It says wrath of the lich king just merely asa promotional tool. its still the original WOW,just tempting you to buy the upgrades. You can still play wow, just don’t get access to some features you can get in WOTLK, like access to new islands etc
