Will I get more fps in World of WArcraft?
By admin | October 25, 2009
If I change my computers video card with "EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ Video Card" will i get like 40+ fps?
Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, build 2600)
Processor:AMD Athlon(tm) 64 processor 3800+
Memory: 1024MB RAM
and will it work perfectly?
First of all you did not provide specs on current video card so it is impossible to gauge as to how much of a performance bump you would attain.
As well are you playing the first version, second or third expansion of the game?
wotlk demands substantially more textures be processed compared to the first version.
Also in WOTLK high population areas demand much more processing power as well as RAM in order to load and handle the staggering amount of information it requests upon entering the zone.
Dual core/multi core processors offset this demand much better than single core ones do and additional RAM would also makes things run substantially better.
So in order to run the game "Perfectly", a system built with the appropriate components is necessary. "Perfectly" also does not take into account ISP’s and latency issues as this is beyond what any system can address.
All components in ones system must run in tandem in order to achieve the ultimate FPS’s. For example a Ferrari engine in a Chrysler 4 door sedan does not make for a pristine operating vehicle.
But dependent on what your present video card is this may well improve your frames if you adjust your video settings accordingly.
Post your video specs and you will probably receive an answer more accurate as to whether you can attain 40 FPS.

depends on what you have your video settings at. if ur settings are on low ur fps should be higher so check that before upgrading videos cards. if its already on low and your having low fps definitly upgrade.

settings matter greatly!!!! but that graphics card is very good you should be able to play with high settings except for shadow! but i suggest you get some more RAM too…it helps!!!

I think that the CPU and specially the memory will become performance choke points. How different, performance-wise, is your old video card to this one? If it’s too far, the money you spent in the upgrade might not be worth it.
