World of Warcraft languages?

By admin | June 24, 2009

After starting the game of world of warcraft I noticed a language option near my chat. I'm a blood elf and it said Thalassian and I think the other is Orcish. I am I able to speak what other races can't? If so, do I just select it then I begin speaking the language?

On WoW, there are multiple languages, similar to the multiple languages in real life. However, unlike the real world, members of one faction (Such as Horde) cannot speak to members of the other faction (ie Alliance). This is to reduce the amount of cheating that occurs in WoW.

As for the multiple languages listed for you to enable, I would recommend leaving both enabled, otherwise you will find yourself reading gibberish from some members of the same faction.

When you speak Thalassian, only other blood elves or people that know Thalassian can understand you. It comes out like "gibberish" to somebody who doesn't speak it. Anybody on the horde can understand Orcish, and anybody on the alliance can speek Common. And yes, you just select it.

Oh, and by the way, when you speak, it's typing (communication to other players)

Orcish is the common language any Horde can read when you type in gchat, party chat, whispers etc.

Thalassian is the language which is only readable by fellow blood elfs.

Only thing you need to do is select your prefferred language from the option bar
