Can I play World Of Warcraft WOTLK without buying the other sets first?
By admin | October 25, 2009
I do not have an account for World of Warcraft, and I do not have any of the sets. I was hoping that I can buy just the WOTLK set and create and use an account from there, but I am not sure if I have to buy every one of the sets before. Please help!
You can’t play wotlk expansion pack without first buying and installing the world of warcraft and TBC game sets. There’s a reason it’s called an expansion pack.

You have to have all 3 sets. You can borrow discs from friends though. Or DL them from Worldofwarcraft.com

well… you can download them from the site, but you have to pay for your account to be activated and updated for each exp pack.
each exp pack is an addition to the game, and you need the previous game to install the next. WoW -> BC -> WotLK
I believe there is a bundle package where you can buy both the original and the first exp pack together, and it also includes i believe two guides for a good price, but i’m not sure if you save much money that way, as opposed to buying the first two seperate.

You don’t have to buy the disks as WOTLK dvd-rom has all the games on it. You do however need to purchase the account and upgrades. You can go to the website and purchase a standard account. Then upgrade it to BC and then Wrath. You won’t really get much out of BC until you reach 58, except the professions and races. and you wont get much benefit from Wrath until 70, except the profession.
To save money you can get the battle chest which has the first 2 for about $20. Subscription is $14.99 a month.

Like previous person said, all 3 are on WOTLK dvd, but you would have to go to the website and create an account and then pay for the upgrades. I personally wouldn’t buy WOTLK until you have gotten to atleast lvl 65-70.

Well, the data that comes with WOTLK e.g. Death Knights, Notherend and the new gear is off limits to you unless you have both the original AND The Burning Crusade.

you can play it without burning crusade but you have to have just plain WoW to play WOTLK
