Many players don’t seem to be happy with the current shape of WoW.
With Arena’s changing the face of PvP forever and everything revolving around boring grinds, do you think wotlk will be enough to keep Blizzard’s MMO at the top?

@ Attorney At Lawl.

I don't think your veteran WoW player. And yes, Blizzard did gain more subscriptions, but do they ever say how many they lost? It's a biased point of view. Many old school WoW players quit after TBC.

Arena's are a joke and they totally destroyed the purpose of PvP. All you do in WoW now-a-days is grind honor and gold, there is no player communities anymore, you can literally just play WoW solo now.

The reason TBC brought so many subscriptions is because Blizzard, did a good job of marketing, Blood Elves, Flying Mounts etc etc. The game in general becomes a dull process of repetitiveness.

I really don't think the expansion is going to bring it back to the top. I mean I used to be a WoW addict and quit last September cause it was starting to get boring, and especially because of the things you mentioned. Even though the expansion is coming out my friends and I don't feel we are going to migrate back to WoW. I mean WoW was a great game but now its not as original and intuitive as it was during its first years and the start of BC. Sorry to say WoW is going to slowly lose popularity over the next few years. But as always there will be people playing it.
I mean the expansion isn't going to do much for the numbers of the game, but games aren't really close to being as widely played as WoW. So the expansion will probably keep WoW at the top for now just because of the fact that WoW has such high numbers to begin with.

Stop living under a rock. WoW currently has the biggest population (over 10 million) and is far above the competition and STILL growing. WoW isn't failing, it isn't dying, it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Look at the numbers from The Burning Crusade – WoW gained litterally millions of players when TBC was released, and it will do the same with Lich King.

PS: I'm VERY happy with the current shape of WoW. Arenas are a blast and not everything is a boring grind. If you're looking for a game that is completely without a grind, you shouldn't be playing an MMO.

EDIT: Thanks, but I am a veteran player, been playing since Jan. of 2006, so over two and a half years. If that isn't veteran, you've got an odd definition! It doesn't matter how many subscribers WoW has lost, because they always gain others back, PLUS more.

You say arenas destroyed PvP but don't say how. They haven't destroyed everything. You probably just got beaten in them because Arenas actually require you to KNOW your class, so they are hard to play in and do well. Yes, all you do in WoW is grind (in PvP, anyway), name an MMO where there isn't grind? You do something, earn points, get better skills or equipment. EVERY SINGLE MMO DOES THAT. That is the POINT of MMOs.

So what if Blizz did a good job of marketing? Thats their JOB, they're a COMPANY that is there to SELL you stuff.

BTW, all you seem to care about is "honor and gold" grinding. Why don't you try raiding, or other such PvE things? Those require just running raids and instances – no "grind" there.

“The game in general becomes a dull process of repetitiveness.”

As it and every other MMO ever has always been.
