Can you update your World of Warcraft account with a code from the Collector’s Edition of WotLK?

If you already have a Wrath of the Lich King code on your account? This is, in order to get the special in-game pet? How would one go about doing it?
Go to Manage Account (https://us.battle.net/login/login.xml?ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.worldofwarcraft.com%2Faccount%2F&app=wam)
Then go to Upgrade account.
