cant i just buy the wrath of the lich king?

do i need the first world of warcraft to play the wrath of the lich king or can i buy that expansion first and play it?
if i need the first world of warcraft first, how much time do i need to spend before i beat the campaign on hardmode or how long do i keep playing before i should buy wrath of the lich king?
… i just want to continue from where warcraft 3 expansion left off if that helps.
world of warcraft is completely different than WC3.
It’s not a campaign at all. It’s an MMORPG, and you quest/level/raid/pvp- It’s not an RTS like WC3.
In order to play Wrath of the Lich King, you need to have the original World of Warcraft AND the Burning Crusade expansion. There is no point in buying wotlk until you have reached level 70, though. You don’t need it for anything.

WoW is different from warcraft 3. WoW is a mmorpg. You need WoW first then the expansions.

you can buy WoW and play it, you’ll just wont be able to play any of the content that the expansions offer. You can do this with the other two expansions as well. In order to play WOtLK you need the previous 2 games, including the WOtLK expansion.

well firstly you need world of warcraft before anything then u need the burning crusade expansion and the lich king and wow isnt the same as warcraft 3 or any of those its an online thing where u run around and talk to people and all that i would say just to look into it a bit furthur and find out a bit more info before doing anything hope it help a little and try and make some friends who already play WoW

Well you got to buy the Original WoW AND then Burning Crusade to play the Wrath Of lich King. I’m guessing it’s that way because, Wrath Of Lich King was the last game made for WoW and you probably have to buy the first two first to play the last one so far. I heard you can download them for free if your WoW account is upgraded. But you need tons of space to download directly.
NOTE:You have to have a upgraded account to download directly, but dont forget you have to pay a fee of $15.00 each month to play!
