Wrath of Lich King but…..?

I got this big collection edition for christmas from my uncle (that my brother picked out) and it’s really awesome BUT from the directions on the inside it says you have to install the original world of warcraft or burning crusade.
So does that mean I have to buy another game completely? Then install wrath of lich king? (Because I’ve only played the trial of WoW once about one year ago.)
If all you got for Christmas was the Wrath of the Lich King, then yes- you need the base game AND Burning Crusade to use it.
The world of warcraft Battlechest contains both plus a strategy guide for cheaper than you could buy them separately. It’s about $40 I think.
