Wrath of the Lich King Beta Key Question?

Hey guys, both my friend and I have our accounts frozen on WoW. Yesterday, he received the beta key for Lich King. Would I be able to reactivate my account and use his key? The thing that threw me off was that it said you needed an active account and in good standing since Aug 25, 2008. Since my account has been expired since early August, can I still get in? Thanks!
